The Fairbanks Youth Facility is the second largest of Alaska’s juvenile correctional facilities, with a design capacity for 12 residents in short term detention and 15 in long term treatment. In recent years, FYF has operated at roughly 65% capacity, which has allowed us to focus on vocational and transitional services in a more effective manner Detention centers are for youth who are detained under specific circumstances set by Alaska statute. They hold youth that are awaiting court dates or placement in a residential facility
